Real Cooking Made Fun

What better than the chance to cook real food in the kitchen of a real castle? This is the stuff of fairytales: For children all that’s fun about food, for adults, a few hours off while your little cooks are cooking.

We run the classes ourselves and it’s all very hands-on with an emphasis on real food, good ingredients and exciting flavours. The day starts at around noon, cooking lunch which everyone sits down to eat and then finishes at around 4pm by which time everyone will have made something delicious to take away and share (or not). Usually there’s a chance to feed the hens, collect their eggs, pick something from the kitchen garden.

Bespoke days

Classes are for 7 -14 year olds and we run them as bespoke days for a minimum of two and a maximum of six. Perfect for birthday parties. A bespoke day for up to six little cooks is £400 and you get to dictate the agenda.

Scheduled days

We also run scheduled days throughout the year. The format is the same but you get to join a group of other like-minded budding chefs. There will only ever be a maximum of eight of you. Scheduled days are £65 per person.

Here’s what we’ll be doing for the first part of 2018 (but watch this space because we’ll put in more dates soon):

January : Wednesday 3rd (carrot crunch, burgers, buns, lemon meringue)
February : Saturday 10th (sweetcorn fritters, pasta, bolognaise, brownie) Monday 12th (samosas, chicken curry, shrikhand)
March : Tuesday 27th (cheese straws, pasta, salmon in soy, hot cross buns)
April : Tuesday 3rd (fritatta, burgers, buns, easter chicks) Tuesday 10th (sweetcorn fritters, shepherds pie, carrot crunch, chocolate hedgehogs)
May : Tuesday 29th (sticky chicken, pizza, profiteroles) Thursday 31st (mozarella sandwiches, pasta, bolognaise, tiramisu)

Family days

We have also started a class for families too, giving parents and children the chance to cook and eat together in a fun and unhurried environment. Together you plan, prepare and cook a three course meal which everyone sits down and enjoys together. Family courses are for one or two families at a time and are arranged as bespoke days designed just for you. A bespoke family day for two adults and two children is £350.

School days

And finally, we have run some very successful and enjoyable school sessions for primary school children ranging from a couple of hours of simple pasta making to takeaway orders to sell to parents, planned and cooked over a series of days to a whole castle takeover in a day serving afternoon tea.
