Normally visiting dogs stay in their owners' car. Strictly by prior agreement we may allow dogs to stay in our estate houses. We have livestock so dogs must be closely controlled whilst in our grounds. Please note dogs are not permitted anywhere in the main castle.

BECAUSE WE ARE PROUD TO BE DIFFERENT and VERY HANDS-ON...

Please remember that we are not a full service hotel, so please let us know when you book if you'd like an evening meal. When we are not able to offer evening meals you'll either be told when you book or have plenty of notice on the rare occasions that we have to cancel a booked evening meal. In any event we have some great recommendations of places to eat locally and afternoon teas, children's high tea and supper platters can be pre-booked every night.

To confirm a booking we take a £100 deposit per room plus details of a valid credit or debit card. By providing your card details you are giving us authority to charge this card for all and any charges relating to your booking including cancellation charges as published below.

If you cancel at least seven days prior to your scheduled date of arrival your deposit will be returned in full. Cancellations within seven days will forfeit the deposit. Cancellation within forty-eight hours or no-shows will incur a charge equivalent to the full cost of the first night's bed & breakfast stay per room. We will make every effort to re-sell the accommodation and if we do so will refund all deposits and cancellation charges in full. (see below)

As we are only a small castle, we limit the size of non-exclusive group bookings at weekends and during school holidays to twelve people (six double rooms) so that guests who are not part of the party do not feel outnumbered.

            ___________________________________________________________

Payment may be made by debit card, Visa, Mastercard, American Express or cash.

We only accept pre-payment by cheque a minimum of seven days prior to your arrival.

All prices include VAT at the prevailing rate (VAT No: 708 1134 64)

IMPORTANT NOTICE

A 2% charge will be added to all accounts settled with a Visa, Mastercard or American Express credit or charge card (including deposit payments). This will not apply to payments made by debit card or cash. We will continue to accept cheques for deposits or advance payments but not for settlement of final balances.

The contractual bit

(we don't like it either but it is a necessity):

Non exclusive bookings

(ie individual rooms or groups not taking over the whole castle)

are confirmed with a £100 deposit per room and are subject to a forty-eight hour cancellation charge equivalent to the full cost of the first night's stay. This will be charged to the payment card supplied at the time of booking and supply of such card details implies acceptance of these cancellation terms. Cancellation within seven days will forfeit the deposit. We make every possible effort to re-let accommodation cancelled within this period, in which case no cancellation charge is payable. We cannot, however enter into any negotiation over cancellation charges levied against non arrival or early departure.

If we have to cancel your booking at any time prior to your scheduled date of arrival we will return all deposits received to you in full.

If the castle is open and we are accessible from the public highway we cannot accept responsibility for guests' inability to arrive due to adverse weather conditions and will not enter into negotiation over cancellation charges in such an event.

Exclusive hire of the castle

includes accommodation, dinner & breakfast. There is no reduction for under occupancy so you are paying one charge for the castle rather than per person. An exclusive hire booking can be confirmed on receipt of a non-refundable £1000 deposit. Payment of the balance of the booking is due no later than 60 days prior to the event. Notice of cancellation can only be accepted in writing from the client who confirmed the original booking. Charges will apply to bookings cancelled within 90 days of the event.

No contract exists between us and suppliers of any third party activities ancilliary to the supply of accommodation, food & drink. We cannot supply any food or drink sourced by anybody but ourselves.

We are fully licensed and have a well stocked bar and wine cellar. Any alcoholic beverages consumed on the premises without our prior agreement will be subject to a corkage charge.

This is a summary of our full exclusive use terms & conditions which are issued on booking and form part of our contract with you.

WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU TAKE OUT EVENT INSURANCE AND WE CAN ADVISE YOU ON HOW THIS WORKS.
