Since we launched our Afternoon tea Re-imagined in February 2022 it has been greeted with almost universal enthusiasm. Of course, theres always going to be someone who dissent like change, didn’t read the menu or just enjoys having a moan, but on the whole, our innovative mix of savouries and sweet delights has gone down very well and as we slide into autumn expect our offering to change with the season.
Out have gone the little delicately flavoured finger sandwiches and instead you’ll find savoury treats which will change with the season and reflect what we’re serving in the restaurant and may include a mouthful of prawn cocktail, a bite size savoury tart, a chilli puff, courgette or spinach frittata with goat cheese, mushroom arancini, bacon croquetta or Cumberland sausage roll. There’ll be a wrap or toasted panini too.
Our cakes will be a reflection of what’s on our menu and will usually include a mini dessert such as a trifle, creme brûlée or panda cotta.
Of course, it wouldn’t be an afternoon tea without freshly baked scones with lashings of west country clotted cream and locally sourced strawberry jam so we’ve left that part of your experience as it is.
We can cater for gluten free and vegetarian guests but our tea is not adaptable for vegans (although we can offer something different with enough notice)
We serve afternoon tea every day between 2pm and 5pm in the restaurant, on a comfy sofa in front of the fire or, in the summer, out in the garden.
