Cumbria The Lake District : Adventure capital of Britain, the country’s favourite national park, is vying with Yorkshire Adventure for its share of the country’s adrenaline, so we’re ideally placed to give you the best from both sides of the Pennines.
And our own slice of paradise, the Eden Valley, offers endless opportunities for less energetic days. As well as some of the best and most uncrowded walking in Britain there are villages, caves, riverbanks, castles, waterfalls and gorges to explore on foot, on your bike or by car.

Family Time
At Augill we look after the whole family, not just children, by giving you space and freedom to be yourselves – as a family – because there are few things modern families crave more than the luxury of quality time together.
There are few rules as happy families don’t need them. And besides, it’s a castle – who needs rules? We are particularly popular with multi-generation family get-togethers because everyone from granny and grandpa to the youngest member of the family feels equally at home.
Family Space
The Drawing Room is a space for the whole family to enjoy. Bring your own games or toys and don’t worry about leaving them out.
Outside fifteen acres are there to explore. Beyond that the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales – both come almost to our door – offer a whole world of adventures and activities.
Eating at Augill is fun too. It’s food the whole family can enjoy together. Alternatively, we offer traditional afternoon tea every day with savoury or sweet versions and big and small portions.
And once bed beckons there are family rooms, interconnecting rooms, suites and everything you might need when travelling with children from cots & highchairs to baby monitors & spare supplies. We don’t offer a baby sitting service so please speak to us before you book if you need reassurance about the configuration of bedrooms or the layout of the castle. We can send you a floorplan.
