Events at the castle in spring 2024

Here's what's coming up at the castle

Comedy in a castle

Comedy will return for St Patrick's Day

Our occasional Comedy in a Castle – when the Music Rooms is transformed into a pop-up comedy club – brought to you in association with the Shoecake Comedy Club has become a legendary night out and will continue in 2024. You can split your sides laughing with us on Sunday 17 March when the laughs will have an Irish slant.

We’ll be doing things slightly differently in 2024. Comedy will be £20 per ticket. Doors and the bar will open at 7pm for comedy at 7.30 and there’ll be two intervals for you to visit the bar a refresh.

If you’d like supper before the show this will be £28 for two courses from our house menu. Tables for supper will be bookable from 5pm with last orders at 6.30pm to give you time to eat before the show begins.

Acts you’ll have seen on TV or at the Edinburgh Fringe will have you laughing your Sunday evening away which is what has made this a legendary night out.

Comedy in a Castle – like nothing you have experienced before

Valentine's Lovers' package

Where better than a castle to celebrate love?

We’ve put together a special lovers’ package for just £300 which will include a night in the best available room, a chilled bottle of bubbly and three course romantic dinner.

The package can be used on Valentine’s day itself or bought as a gift experience to be used any time – because love isn’t just for one day of the year.

We are now taking bookings for dinner on Valentine’s Day. A special four course menu including a glass of bubbles or a cocktail of your choice is £40 per person.

Mothers' Day afternoon tea

It books up every year and this year it's earlier than usual.

Show those special ladies who hold it all together how much they mean to you with afternoon tea in a castle.

Our afternoon tea re-invented has become something of a local institution – a constantly changing selection of sweet and savoury treats which select our menus and the seasons.

Afternoon tea is £25 per person or £34 with a glass of champagne and every mum will receive a hand tied bouquet of spring flowers.

You can book direct with us for the day itself, Sunday March 10, or buy a voucher for tea as a gift to be used anytime.

Business retreat is back

Our popular business retreat died a death at the hands of civid but now its back and its even better.

The castle is the perfect place to bring a group of work colleagues for uninterrupted creative time and space.

Whether you’re strategising for the year ahead, reflecting on the year just gone or, perhaps launching something new, the castle is the perfect place to leave the world behind and let your minds go free.

Of course the world doesn’t stop just because you’ve tried to slow down and we now have lighting fast fibre broadband to the castle so you’ll never have to miss an email or buffer during a presentation.

And, working with a range of partners, we can organise any number of activities on and off site to add a bit of fun or challenge to your event.

Our overnight delegate rate starts at £200 per person including all meals, refreshments and overnight accommodation.

Burns night

Release your inner Braveheart with a celebration of Scottishness in this very English castle

On Saturday 27 January we’ll be serving up a distinctly Scottish flavour for a Burns themed dinner

There will be poetry, som music and a little bit of silliness as we join toasts to the laddies and the lassies.

So dust off your sporran, press your kilt and come and celebrate the end of the longest month with a bit of English country hospitality Scottish style.

Rooms begin at £80 per person B&B and our four course Burns supper will be £40 per person.

Back to our roots

After several torrid years we are renewing our focus on what we know we do best – exclusive use weddings, parties and celebrations.

This castle was built for entertaining and is happiest when it is full.

Visit our wedding and house party page to get a flavour of what we do but rest assured, if you have something in mind that doesn’t fit with what we’re suggesting, we can probably still make it happen.

And it won’t be as expensive as you might imagine.
